This panel defines the login name and password that will be used in order to establish a point-to-point protocol (PPP) dial-up connection to a Hardware Management Console (HMC). The HMC uses the PPP protocol for all incoming dialup connections in order to control which users can establish incoming connections. Only users who know this login name and password will be allowed to establish dialup connections. A user who wishes to establish a dialup connection to call and connect to an HMC must use this login name and password when configuring their dialup client. For example, a user trying to connect to an HMC from a Windows system will use this login name and password which establishes a Windows Dialup Networking configuration for calling a particular HMC.
